2) Your responsibilities before the groom
-
Please ensure your dog has toileted before arrival. Fresh water is always available on-site.
-
Avoid feeding within 30 minutes pre-appointment to reduce nausea.
-
Tell us about any health, behavioural or medication changes before every visit.
-
Anal glands: we do not express anal glands. Please see your vet.
3) Appointments, lateness & cancellations
-
Punctuality: Please arrive on time. If you are 15+ minutes late, we may reschedule to keep the day running safely and smoothly.
-
Cancellations & rearrangements: Please give at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or move your appointment. You can do this by phone or Facebook message; the time stamp of your message will be used.
-
No‑shows: A fee equal to 50% of the booked groom will be charged. We will not accept further bookings until this fee is paid. If the fee is not paid within 3 days, all future bookings will be cancelled.
4) Pricing & payment
-
Prices are based on breed, size, coat condition and dog behaviour. A quote for a standard breed trim may change if:
-
the coat is matted/knotted/overgrown;
-
a specialist trim (incl. shave-down) is required; or
-
your dog requires additional handling time.
-
-
We’ll discuss any additional work or costs during check-in. If we cannot reach you and welfare requires action (e.g., clip-off for severe matting), we’ll proceed in your dog’s best interest.
-
If a groom must be stopped due to aggressive or unsafe behaviour, the full groom price may still apply to cover time and the reserved slot.
-
Payment is due in full on collection.
5) Behaviour, safety & muzzling (incl. XL Bully policy)
-
Please be honest about your dog’s temperament and any triggers. This helps us plan a safe, low-stress appointment.
-
We may use a muzzle if we believe it’s necessary for safety. Muzzling does not harm the dog; it’s a short-term safety measure.
-
We reserve the right to refuse or stop a groom at any time if safety or welfare is at risk.
-
XL Bully dogs: We are insured to groom XL Bullies subject to UK legislation. You must provide evidence of microchipping, insurance and exemption certification. Our premises are on private land; a muzzle may be removed inside at our discretion if safe. If we suspect a dog could be an XL Bully without valid exemption proof, we may decline the groom.
-
Owners are liable for any injury to staff/third parties and for damage to equipment or premises caused by their dog.
6) Puppy grooms
-
We start puppy sessions from 14 weeks old and 2 weeks after their second vaccinations.
-
Early positive experiences help puppies accept sights/sounds/smells of grooming.
-
We recommend regular at-home brushing and gentle paw handling to prepare for nail trims.
-
We generally avoid clipping until the adult coat is in (around 8 months); puppy sessions focus on hygiene, desensitisation and coat care.
7) Health, wellbeing & fleas
-
If your pet is unwell, please rearrange. To protect others, we may decline to groom unwell dogs.
-
We recommend vaccinations are kept up to date. We disinfect surfaces and equipment between grooms.
-
We do not groom pregnant bitches or bitches in season.
-
Ears: plucking only on owner request.
-
Fleas: If fleas are discovered, we will (with your consent) apply a suitable flea shampoo/treatment and implement extra sanitation measures. A flea treatment/salon sanitation fee will apply. By agreeing to these Terms you authorise us to proceed if we are unable to contact you.
8) Matted coat policy (Animal Welfare first)
-
Severe matting is painful and compromises skin health. In line with welfare guidance, we will not spend more than 15 minutes dematting with tools. Where necessary, we will clip/shave the coat short to remove matting safely.
-
Risks of clip-off include small nicks/abrasions or post-groom skin irritation/itchiness where the skin has been under tension. We will advise on aftercare.
-
Dematting/clip-off charges (guide):
-
Under legs/behind ears: +£5
-
General dematting (up to 15 minutes): +£8
-
Targeted areas (per area): +£5
-
Full clip/shave on top of full groom: +£10
-
Prevention is best: consistent home brushing and regular grooms reduce cost, time and discomfort.
9) Accidents & emergencies
-
We handle all pets with care and use industry-standard equipment, but grooming carries inherent risks (e.g., minor nicks, clipper irritation, stress-related events).
-
In the event of an accident or serious concern during the groom, you authorise Groomies & Zoomies to seek veterinary attention. You agree to cover all veterinary costs incurred. (You may set a spend limit below.)
-
We recommend maintaining pet insurance.
10) Data protection & privacy
-
We collect only the information needed to provide our services (e.g., your contact details, your dog’s details/health notes).
-
Your data is kept confidential and used solely for care, safety, booking and lawful record-keeping. We do not share your data with third parties unless required by law or with your explicit consent.
11) Photographs & marketing
-
We love a before/after photo! Images may be used on our website, social media and printed materials to showcase our work.
-
If you’d prefer no photos of your dog to be used, please opt out below.
12) Emmi‑Pet Ultrasonic Teeth Cleaning — service-specific terms
-
Emmi‑Pet is not a veterinary procedure and does not diagnose or treat disease. Results depend on current dental health, any prior dental work and your dog’s behaviour.
-
The toothbrush uses ultrasound (no movement/noise). Additional hand tools may be used where appropriate.
-
A small amount of gum-line blood can occur where tartar/plaque lifts; this can be normal.
-
We will stop the session and refer you to your vet if we observe loose/damaged teeth or abnormalities (e.g., tumours, ulcers, abscesses, oral warts, foreign bodies) or if your dog becomes excessively stressed or aggressive. The full session fee still applies for time and handling.
-
Each pet has their own brush head, purchased at the initial treatment and replaced after 25 treatments (or sooner if chewed/damaged) and at least annually.
-
Heavy tartar may require a veterinary dental first, followed by maintenance with Emmi‑Pet. We are not responsible for issues arising from pre-existing poor dentition before/during/after ultrasonic sessions.
-
Effectiveness relies on recommended session frequency.
13) Feedback & complaints
-
We provide feedback after every groom. If you’d like a written end‑of‑groom report, just ask.
-
If you are unhappy with any aspect of the groom, please tell us before you leave so we can make reasonable adjustments or note preferences for next time.
14) Senior dogs (10+)
-
Grooming can expose or aggravate underlying conditions. Older dogs carry higher risk of stress or injury. Please keep us updated on any health issues, however small.
-
By booking, you accept responsibility for any veterinary treatment required and associated costs.
15) Changes to these Terms
-
We may update these Terms from time to time. The latest version will be available on request and/or notified to you. Continued bookings constitute acceptance of the current Terms.
By booking an appointment with us you agree to these terms and conditions.
