About Us

Hi, my name is Ayla and I’m the groomer at Groomies & Zoomies.

Groomies was actually the brainchild of my sister, Corri, who decided (while six months pregnant!) that she needed a new challenge. The salon was purpose-built with dogs in mind, and it wasn’t long before she convinced me to get involved.

At first, I was certain I could never be a dog groomer — I didn’t think I’d be very good at it. But every time Corri showed me how rewarding it was, and how much fun she was having spending her days surrounded by dogs, I felt more drawn to it. Eventually, I took the plunge. After 10 years of running my home bakery, I retrained and completely fell in love with the world of dog grooming. I’ve now been grooming for almost 3 years, and I haven’t looked back.

Corri is still very much part of Groomies & Zoomies, though her main focus is her first “baby” — Salthouse Pet Boarding. She now works predominantly with the boarding dogs, while I run the salon day-to-day. Together, we’ve built Groomies & Zoomies into a safe, calm, and friendly space where every pup gets the attention they deserve.

I’m Level 3 qualified, canine first aid trained, and fully insured, and I work on a strict 1:1 basis so your dog always has my full focus.

My approach isn’t about chasing the latest show trends — it’s about providing bespoke, practical grooms that suit your dog’s lifestyle, coat type, and temperament. I also have extensive experience with nervous and reactive dogs, and the salon is completely cage-free, using only gentle, fear-free handling techniques. Every dog is unique, and I pride myself on patience, kindness, and tailoring each groom so even the most anxious pups can feel safe and cared for.
